Ryuko-ji (龍口寺)

The Buddhist temple of Ryuko-ji was built during the Engen (延元) Period (1336 ~ 1340).  Around the end of the Kamakura Era (1185 ~ 1333), the Kamakura shogunate started fearing Nichiren's activities and was about the execute him at Tatsunokuchi.  However, a large ball of light suddenly appeared at Enoshima and came flying to Tatsunokuchi.  The executers stopped and Nichiren was exiled to Sado, but later returned to Kamakura.
