Sumiyoshi Jinja (住吉神社)

There is a Shinto shrine called Sumiyoshi Jinja (住吉神社) standing in the Nango Area in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture.

Before this shrine was built, there used to be Jurasetsunyo-do (十羅刹女堂) enshrining Kishimojin (鬼子母神).  Around the beginning of the Meiji Era (1868 ~ 1912), the local representatives decided to divide, invite, and enshrine the gods of Sumiyoshi Taisha in Osaka which became Sumiyoshi Jinja.

The shrine has detailed wooden carvings of warriors on both sides of the shrine building.

There is a small Inari shrine standing next to the shrine building of Sumiyoshi Jinja.
