The Site of the Former Noborizō Weir (登象の堰跡)

There is a square frame inscribed on the revetment walls of Sennokawa (千ノ川), a river flowing through ChigasakiKanagawa Prefecture, by the Tohama Bridge (とはま人道橋).  This is a monument showing where the Noborizo Weir (登象の堰) once was.

The weir was built in the early days of the Showa period to take in water into the rice fields that occupied the area up to Tsurumine Hachimangu and also served as a bridge for the locals to cross over the river.

The sign placed above the monument shows photos of the weir in 1946, the remnants of the weir before the revetment construction in 2007, and the monument.
